Travelling to Greece during an Economic crisis

The Greek debt crisis has left many travelers wondering if Greece is still a safe and enjoyable destination to travel to. In the midst of the crisis riots have appeared in Greece in response to harsh austerity measures. According to a Fox News article more than 45 buildings were burned during riots and dozens of stores and cafes were broken into and robbed.

According to the Canadian foreign affairs and international trade travel report to Greece, travelers are given warning that strikes and demonstrations may frequently occur. Travelers are warned that these strikes and demonstrations can effect transportation, and cause road closures. Also it is advised to stay away from large crowds as they can get violent very quickly.
