If you ever find yourself in Thailand, and are
looking to do something healthy and out of the box, Muay Thai kickboxing is
definitely something to try out. Muay Thai is both a national sport and a passion in
Thailand. Muay Thai teaches fighters to use all eight limbs including the elbows,
knees, shins, and fists in combat. Muay
Thai kickboxing is a hard-hitting and energetic martial art that teaches
fighters self-obedience and self-awareness.
Muay
Thai has been a part of Thailand’s history as it
was used as a means of self-defense by Thai people during invasions from other
countries during the formation of Thailand. The original training
equipment for Muay Thai was found in nature. While most fighters today
use heavy bags to strengthen their kicks, early Muay Thai fighters used Banana
trees. Early Muay Thai fighters built stamina by running in and out of water
and used coconuts and limes as what fighters today use as Focus balls.
Fighters
do not need to change their diet when training as Thai food is very healthy. Thai food consists of a lot of fresh ingredients including
fruits, seafood, curries, meats and vegetables. Fighters eat a lot of rice with
these ingredients during every meal.
When
training in a Muay Thai camp foreigners may
find that many members are children. The reason for this is that Muay Thai is
not only a sport but also a way for many children to leave poverty. Instructors at Muay Thai camps build very
close relationships with their fighters and consider them as family.
If you’re
looking for a great way to defend yourself, eat tasty and healthy food, and
learn in a comfortable environment, then training at a Muay Thai camp in Thai
Land would be a great experience.
