Strange but Beautiful

I like to think I'm a bit different then a lot of people in my taste of places I want to go. The places I want to go most are Switzerland, Madagascar and Iceland, I mean it would be great to go to London, Japan, Australia but I have places above that. Also I want to see those little known places people don't go to a lot, but are still beautiful and unique.

Let's start off with a unique place in Southern Asia in the country of Indonesia, the place is called Mt. Kelimutu. Indonesia is one of the most geological active countries in the world so you would think this would be just another volcano but it is very unique. This volcano looks like all other volcano's, but the unique thing is that there are two lakes next to it and because of the fumes and chemicals they are known to change colors, when and what color remains unpredictable.

Now we move down South a bit more to the country of New Zealand and some rocks, yes rocks! The Moeraki Boulders are found the Southern Island of New Zealand, these boulders rest on Koekoke Beach. These larger boulders are strangely perfectly circular, formed on the bottom of the ocean floor about 60 million ago as calcite minerals fused balls of mud together. Eroded from nearby sandstone cliffs, which encased these boulders for all those years.

Going back up north a bit more again we find the island grouping of the Philippines and within those islands there are some hills, more specifically the Chocolate hills. Located in the Bohol province these hills are best known for when they turned a dried brown color during the dry season. It creates an eye-catching view of chocolate looking hills for a few miles, a very different and unique site.

To Europe now and a bridge that is the oldest of it's kind, a wooden bridge to be exact. Chapel bridge, in Lucerne, Switzerland is the oldest wooden bridge in all of Europe, and despite wear and even fire it still stands and is in good form. Built early in the 14th century it cuts across the Reuss river. It's the picture of the city and surprisingly not as popular as you think it should be, but still am amazing visit and should be on any travellers list.

Now we go to South America to a unique location for this attraction. Mount Roraima is located at the border point between Brazil, Guyana and Venezuela, weird because of it's but also because the amount of clouds that collect around the summit. The tabletop mountain, which is the peak, is considered one of the oldest formations. Formed by water and wind, but what remains a big mystery is that their are species that can't be found anywhere else on it.

Now the Bermuda triangle, we have all heard the stories about it, it apparently swallows up airplanes and ships but people still wonder if that is the real truth. So many disappearances and disasters between Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Miami, so many conspiracies and come about from compass variations, gulf streams, rogue waves and human error. Despite all these theories it is still pretty travelled and strange but still a definite visit.

There are so many attractions in this world and I only named a very few, keep your eyes out and let me know of a strange but beautiful place!

  1. It sounds like a fun "escape". The place you have mentioned that i never been there before as well even though I came from Asia.
I am planning to go to the Europe on August, thanks for the " chocolate hill" information, but I am not sure whether I could find the bohol province or not haha
