Japanese food for your bucket list


These are a few weird dishes that you can find in Japan:

Shirako Ikizukuri Ikizukuri「白子」

This dish is made up of the genitalia of male fish which contains fish seminal fluid. This dish is popular in bars and pubs in Japan and can be enjoyed as a snack with grated daikon with chili pepper and some chopped thin leeks.

Inago no Tsukudani 「いなごの佃煮

A traditional food popular in rural areas in Japan, Inago is Japanese for “grasshopper”.  Inago is stewed with “ Tsukudani”, a sweetened soy sauce simmered with mirin.

Fugu 「河豚」

Fugu is Japanese for puffer fish. This fish is a delicacy in japan even though the fish is highly toxic. The fish contains lethal amount of poison and only special licensed chefs can prepare and safely serve this dish.
