Hong Kong is known as 美食天堂, a direct translate of this is "Yummy Food Heaven". Sai Kung is a district in the New Territories in Hong Kong best know for their seafood. Sai Kung was a fishing harbor and today fishermen still gather there. From Hong Kong there are many buses to Sai Kung and some of them even have 24 hour services.

Sai Kung is best known for their
seafood. The charm of this area is that
it’s a real fishing area and not just a seafood themed attraction. There are many fishing boats along the
moored alongside the promenade with plenty of fresh seafood to choose
from. They have all sorts of eatable seafood
some you may have never even seen before. If you are planning to stay overnight and have
a rentable condo with a kitchen you can buy your dinner here. If you’re a pro you can even negotiate
raucously with the fishermen. Even if
you aren’t planning to spend the night you can still buy seafood here and take
it to a nearby restaurant. In Sai Kong,
bring your own seafood to eatery is common.
They’ll just charge a cooking, plus anything extra you order off the
menu.
Look at all the different type of seafood. I'm not even sure what everything they have in the basket are. But everything looks really yummy. Photo by: Lily Ha |

If you don’t feel like carrying
around a bag of seafood dripping water you can always just pick your seafood at
the restaurant after you find a restaurant you want to try on the famous Seafood
Street. The seafood may be a little
more expensive but it’s just a fresh and much less hassle. If you don’t just want seafood don’t forget
to ask for veggie of the day since it won’t be listed on the menu.

While ordering everything you
like and everything you want to try making sure you have enough money at the
end of the night to pay the bill is a good idea. Prices for seafood are not listed so make
sure to ask for the price when you’re picking out the seafood and the staff is
weighing it.
Look at all the different types of shrimp and all the size they come in. Don't you just want to have everything in the picture. Photo by: Lily Ha |

After all the wonderful you can
burn off some calories by taking a walk along the boardwalk. With all the talk about the wonderful seafood
available in Sai Kong it’s making me hungry and I miss Hong Kong and the late
night desserts.
Not really sure what these are but they are eatable. Depending on how you cook them they are pretty good. Photo by: Lily Ha |
Not really sure what kind of lobster this is but it was very big heavy too. I forget the price of it but it wasn't the one we choose cause it was just to big for me and my family. Photo by: Lily Ha |

Nice seafood! The prices at the Sai Kung seafood restaurant are usually not listed so that they can rip off the tourists a bit easier I guess! Also it is generally not recommended to order veggie dishes in Sai Kung restaurants, as it is sometimes overpriced. Overall it is a fascinating experience for the eyes but I rarely eat there because everything seems to be pricy.
