Qingdao, also known as Tsingtao, is a beautiful
seaside city lying on the south coast of the Shandong Peninsula. My Alma Mater,
Ocean University of China, is located there at the foot of Mount Lao. At weekends,
I always have an outing with my classmates and enjoy the beautiful sea sight on
the coast.

As a popular summer resort of Shandong Province,
Qingdao has a mild maritime climate: winters are not too cold and summers are
not too hot. . Especially in summer, millions of tourists come to Qingdao for escaping
from the heat. Sitting on the beach, enjoying the sea view and swimming in the
ocean is an enjoyment communicating with nature.

“Red roofs, green trees, blue sea and azure sky” form
a different colorful picture of a seaside city comparing with those concrete
jungles made of cold steel. Sight spots like Mount Lao, the Zhanqiao Pier, Wusi Square,
and Zhonshan Park are all pleasant destinations which will leave tourists a
nice memory of this beautiful city. Among these sights, the Pier is the most
representative symbol of the city. It was built in theQing Dynasty. The pier is ten meters wide and stretching four hundred metersinto the sea, and ends in a Wave Stopping Pavilion which is a classic octagonalbuilding.

Also, Qingdao is the home of the famous Qingdao (Tsingtao) Beer, which can be found in the
liquor stores in Calgary. Locals and visitors enjoy beers and seafood wildly
into the night on the annual Qingdao International Beer Festival.
